Self Paced High School Chemistry

This course is a beginner level chemistry course for high school students. Students will demonstrate scientific understanding by using problem solving, experimentation, and videos. Students should have a basic understanding of basic algebra or pre-algebra skills before taking this course. Students will explore the fundamental principles of chemistry which characterize the properties of matter and how it reacts. Computer based and traditional laboratory techniques are used to obtain, organize, and analyze data. Conclusions are developed using quantitative and qualitative procedures. If a grade is needed or wanted for this course, students will need to complete and turn in all homework, quizzes, tests, and labs. Materials: There is no textbook for this class. The teacher will provide students with all necessary learning materials. Students will need a scientific calculator for the class. A list of lab materials will be available upon registration. They do not have to be purchased but as many of the labs the students can participate in will further their knowledge of chemistry. The teacher will conduct most labs on video.
